Lapis philosophorum

Lapis philosophorum is a project exploring fragile boundaries between what we perceive as natural and manmade. I played with the idea that things labeled as artificial and created by humans could be also seen as natural. We are living organisms and what we produce is part of this natural world.

This series of glass objects resembling natural minerals is an outcome of my experiments with dyeing glass by different metal oxides. I was inspired by the fact that all of us and everything around us was created from the same elementary particles of the star dust. That caused me to think if labeling things as „natural“ or „artificial“ isn´t actually misleading.
